McGregor · Western Cape
Where the village ends, the wild begins.
Lucky Crane Villas is six private homes in McGregor — a small, quiet village just two hours from Cape Town that manages, somehow, to be both completely off the beaten track and entirely worth finding.
Each villa is its own thing. Different size, different mood, different feature that makes guests want to come back specifically for that one. What they share: good beds, proper kitchens, outdoor spaces that make you understand what the fuss is about, and enough privacy that you genuinely forget there are other people in the world.
I know each villa the way you know your own home — the afternoon light in the Fairy Flycatcher, the sound of the water in the Red Bishop's natural pool. When you book direct, you get either Annie or me. Not a booking platform.
The Birds
From one bedroom with a private pool to three bedrooms with a natural swimming pool. Each named for a bird you might actually see from the stoep.
Tucked against the Krans, away from everything. With a private pool, a woodfired hot tub and a daybed with uninterrupted views into the fynbos.
Honeymoon-perfect — whether it's your honeymoon or not. With an outdoor bath under the stars, a natural pool and a cozy fireplace.
The only villa in McGregor with a private sauna and a crystal clear pool. Two bedrooms, four guests, one very good reason to come.
Our dog and child-friendly darling, nestled between olive trees with a pool and an arty interior.
Three bedrooms, a natural pool, and enough space that six people can properly spread out and still find each other.
Three bedrooms, a view of the valley, and a patio that changes everything you thought about sunsets.
We're on Booking.com and Airbnb because that's where some people look. If you've found us here, book here. Always our lowest rate, guaranteed — and a more flexible cancellation policy too.
You're not messaging a call centre. Book direct and you have our number. Questions before, requests during, whatever you need.
A complimentary bottle of local wine on arrival. A jar of organic olives from our olive grove. Early check-in by request. Small things that don't fit on a booking platform but mean something when you get there.
The village
McGregor is not on the way to anywhere. You have to mean to come here. That's part of what makes it what it is — a village at the foot of the Riviersonderend mountains where the light is different and the pace is different and people come back, specifically, because it stays the same.
The Krans Nature Reserve begins at the edge of the village — and that's exactly where my villas are. The Breede River Valley stretches out below. In summer it's hot and still and golden. In winter it's cold enough for fires and quiet enough to hear yourself think.

“The villa felt so peaceful, with its beautifully decorated spaces that created a serene and inviting atmosphere everywhere you looked. It was exactly what’s needed in this fast-paced world. We didn’t want to leave.”
